Friday Feature: Laura May

Laura May is a pseudonym of a Ukrainian-American author. Laura lived in Kyiv till her mid-twenties. Now she can be found traveling around the world. Please welcome Laura May!

Can you tell us a bit about you and how you got into writing?

My name is Laura May, and I am a Ukrainian-American author. I lived in Kyiv until my mid-twenties. I write LGBTQ+ romance and literary fiction. Three of my books are out now: The One WomanI See You In My Dreams, and Do You Wish You Never Met Me?
From a young age, I was an avid reader. The power of storytelling and the emotions that books could evoke in me inspired me to start writing my own stories. I found joy in creating worlds and characters that resonate with readers on a deep level.

Did you always know you wanted to be an author?

No, but stories have been rolling around in my head since childhood.

If you could have dinner with any character from your book, who would you choose?

Alice from Do You Wish You Never Met Me?
Her journey through the book touches on themes of love, grief, regret, and self-discovery, making her someone I would be fascinated to spend time with.

Do you have any specific writing rituals?

Yes, I do. I need complete silence and a cup of coffee to get into the right mindset for writing. Mornings are my most productive time, so I often start my day early, enjoying the tranquility and focus that the early hours provide.

Can you give us a hint about any current or future projects you’re excited about?

I'm currently working on an exciting new project: a witchy LGBTQ+ duology that includes elements of time travel. This series explores themes of magic, identity, and the complexities of love. Although I don't have release dates yet, I'm thrilled about this project and can't wait to share more details soon.
