An avid reader turned author of second-chance, steamy contemporary romance set in small towns, Juliet believes happiness comes from family, hot coffee and even steamier romances.
Juliet is living out her dream to write about what she knows - since she's living her own happily ever after in her very own small town in Texas with her husband (who's always glad to provide some inspiration for the sexy hero), children that keep her on her toes and a coffee habit that cannot be contained.
Please welcome, Juliet McKinley!
Can you tell us a bit about you and how you got into writing?
It actually started as a dare. My best friend and fellow author Morgan Elliott dared me. I had a book idea and was telling her she should write it and she dared me to write it. Told me to give it 10,000 words and if I hated the whole thing then I didn't have to continue. Obviously I did as This is Growing Up was released 7/19/24.
Did you always know you wanted to be an author?
No. Actually this is something that came as a surprise. I was very happy in my role as a reader and reading all of the books. Then all of a sudden the dare came along and it really changed my world.
If you could have dinner with any character from your book, who would you choose?
Dee. She has so much of me in her and growing up in small town Texas. I would love to just have that moment with her.
Do you have any specific writing rituals?
I always make a playlist for each book and when I find new songs that remind me of my characters I add them.
Can you give us a hint about any current or future projects you’re excited about?
I'm currently working on Jensen's book. He's Dee's best friend. We ended on a bit of a cliffhanger with him so I'm excited to get his story out there. I'm also working on the special edition covers for This is Growing Up.
