Friday Feature: Frances Everly

For as long as she can remember, She has always had a vivid imagination and a passion for writing. As many writers do, she started with poetry and expanded her horizons. However, unlike most writers, she did not get a degree in English. Instead, she went a more untraditional path with her education as a writer and studied Anthropology. She now has an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from Trent University and a passion for history and archaeology as well as writing. She currently writes steamy contemporary romance as well as fantasy romance under the pen name F.D. Everly.

Please welcome Frances/F.D. Everly!!!

Can you tell us a bit about you and how you got into writing?

I am the oldest child of seven in a blended family and have always used my imagination as a method to escape the madness lol. I wanted to be a princess and was always daydreaming. My grandfather wrote his own memoirs about his life as a POW in WW2 and emigration to Canada from the UK and that gave me inspiration to write my own stories. As well, my mother, who is an avid barbershop singer for the majority of my life, taught me that I could pursue my own passions in life.

Did you always know you wanted to be an author?

Yes! As I mentioned above, I've always been a daydreamer and the oddest things would inspire me to write. I have notebooks full of poetry and unfinished story ideas going back as far as fifth grade. I didn't know what I wanted to write about until I was much older however and decided to try and finish a book. That's when I realized that as a romantic, my foothold in the writing industry should start there.

If you could have dinner with any character from your book, who would you choose?

This is a very hard question as I love so many of my characters! If I must choose one, it would be the Gemini Twins (haha I'm cheating did you catch that?). Hot, Fae bodyguards??? Umm hello need I say more?

Do you have any specific writing rituals?

Headphones and music and alone time, which as a busy mom of two can be very hard to find! Lol. I find that I need some way to drown out the outside world so I can delve deep into the world I'm trying to build. And a few cups of Earl Grey tea to go along with it.

Can you give us a hint about any current or future projects you’re excited about?

I am super excited to be working on a full length spinoff of Wishing on Snowflakes. This one is rockstar Dean St James's story. The little brother is breaking free from his superstar brother's shadow and making his own name in the music industry. There will be appearances from Dylan and Sierra and other members of HBD (Half-Baked Delinquents), as well as a runaway bride in distress ðŸ˜‰
