Friday Feature: Scarlett Chase

Scarlett Chase always brings stories with heat, something sweet, and swoon-worthy book boyfriends.

Most of her life revolves around books, she has loved to read her whole life and still does. So much so that she decided to become not only a writer, but an editor too.

When she's not doing something bookish, which is rare, you can find her watching a show or a movie. She says If she had a ton of money, she'd still be doing what she loves as she traveled around the world. 😍😍😍

Please welcome Scarlett Chase!

Can you tell us a bit about you and how you got into writing?

I was born in SoCal and lived in different cities in Southern California most of my life. Moved to Austin, Texas in 2021 and I can’t wait to move. It’s worse than CA in terms of heat. I have loved reading books since before I could even read. My mom has video proof of me pretending to read when I learned how to sit up by myself. One day a few years back, I was taking a shower and was struck by a book idea which I immediately wrote all of it down when I was done. And like a true Ravenclaw, I researched the shit out of all the writing things before I even started writing. Still wasn’t ready honestly. There was so much I learned after I published.

Did you always know you wanted to be an author?

No I didn’t. I wanted to get paid to read because reading is totally my jam and as fast as I consume books, I’d be raking in that money so hard by now. However, I’ve always had a very active imagination and would sometimes rewrite endings to stuff I read or watched that I didn’t like in my head. The first book idea I had isn’t even the first book I published. I fell down the spicy book hole and went “I’d rather write smut.” Now I have “plans on plans on waffles”, book ideas are coming out way faster than I can write them.

If you could have dinner with any character from your book, who would you choose?

Just dinner? Shame. Honestly, I would totally have a girl’s dinner with my two FMCs: Sofia from my first book titled Between Pages and Sheets and Catalina from my second book titled Anything You Want. They love food probably as much as I do so it would be fun times.

Do you have any specific writing rituals?

I really don’t. The only “ritualish” thing I do is open up Spotify and start listening to my playlist I named I’m Unstoppable to get pumped before jumping in to write or work (I also edit). But I don’t do it every time so it’s not consistent. If I’m writing, some days I need complete quiet and other times I can listen to music. Usually it’s music that I’m using for that specific scene or the theme song of the book.

Can you give us a hint about any current or future projects you’re excited about?

I’m excited about all the things really. My next story is part of the Beautifully Bloody Anthology, which releases this October 1st, and is a Horror anthology where no stories have HEAs. Mine is Spicy Horror. It’s my first time writing in this genre and I enjoyed it so much I signed up for a second Horror anthology that’s coming out this December. My next solo release will be the sequel to my Switch It Up duet. Anything You Want is up everywhere including Kobo+. Book 1 two men come into Catalina’s life and she says “yes please” to both. Book 2 a third MMC who happens to be her first love comes back into the picture. This duet is kinky RomCom. I threw in as much sexy and kinky deliciousness as I could and I’m enjoying these characters immensely.

Go follow her and say hi! Tell her the Lovestruck Reader sent you! 😉
